Making music at your level
/ Dr. DataBeats and his Digital Music Playland
Dr. DataBeats brings a fun and unique group rhythm-making experience, often complementing drum circle-style play at community events around West Michigan alongside Josh Dunigan.
Dr. DataBeats’ Digital Music Playland supports many simultaneous players with a variety of digital controllers, including professional DJ pads and video game controllers, all designed to work together.
/ Digital Audio Workstation
Our unique software is at the heart of our design. With over 20 years of indepdendent software development experience, Dr. DataBeats has created his own Digital Audio Workstation software in order to provide a simple, intuitive interface for real-time, live music with full music production capabilities. The Digital Music Playland software interfaces with a variety of inputs (audio, MIDI or video game controllers and their buttons, knobs, and other sensors) with a variety of audio, visual, and even haptic outputs.
/ The Science of Music
Music Theory, the Science of Music, is on full interactive display with the Digital Music Playland. A rhythm-game format can be shown on our large LED screens for a familiar and instantly engaging style of play. Interact with music scales in various ways to follow a tune. Kids and adults alike can explore musical patterns and learn to make music on their own, or together with a group.
Music teachers and students, and experienced musicians have shown excitement at our system. In fact, parents regularly tell us that they had trouble getting their kids interested in playing music, yet those same kids stay and explore music for an hour!
/ Accessibility
Accessibility is a key feature of the Digital Music Playland. With its variety of easy to use controllers there is no minimum age, or mental or physical ability requirements to play along. Not everyone can physically play a 6-string guitar, let alone read music, and we do our best to meet everyone at their level!
Dr. DataBeats has worked with kids and adults of all ages, including those facing a variety of physical or mental challenges such as deafness, blindness, Down’s Syndrome, wheelchair-bound, autism spectrum and many others. Each of these experiences has been very special to all involved, including parents and caregivers!
